Guest Post: Kiwanis Club

The Kiwanis Club of Broomfield North Metro is a group of volunteers passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive.

We are devoted to serving the children in our local community through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. We provide winter coats and necessities to local school districts, put together backpacks for children entering foster care, collect produce for the Broomfield FISH food pantry, supply backpacks filled with school supplies, host appreciation luncheons for the foster care caseworkers of Adams County, and much much more.

We were researching ways to assist youth aging out of foster care when we first heard about Anchor House. We immediately reached out to see what we could do to help! We enjoyed building with Habitat for Humanity and watching the house take shape. Our members still point out with pride what portion of the construction they assisted with!

After hosting a golf tournament to raise funds, we were able to purchase all of the furniture for the common room, office, and outdoor patios. We continue to be in contact and offer assistance where needed. We hope to provide long lasting support to Anchor House and its residents through mentorship, training, socials, and service opportunities.

It has been extremely fulfilling working with Anchor House and Lutheran Family Services as we watch this dream become a viable option for youth on their path to independence. Thank you for this amazing opportunity and for this unique model of creativity, partnership, and support for these kids who need and deserve our help!
